I noticed today the the front axle is badly bent upwards on the passenger side of my 49 3800 one ton truck. My truck is now a flatbed , but it came from the factory with a 9ft pickup bed, so it is NOT a dually. I know that there are axle shops that can straighten this out at a big expense, but I'm wondering if a 3/4 ton axle would be the same. Instead of fixing mine, I would rather just swap it out.

I'm thinking a machine shop should be able to press it straight again.

shops working on big truck front ends could straighten it. I believe the 3/4 ton axle is the same. the brakes are larger on the 1 ton

There is a shop here locally that straightens 18 wheeler axles that I could try. I think I am still going to try and find a 1953 or so 3800 axle to get the better brakes off of.
