Did the 1962 235's change the block-BH pattern to the new pattern or was that only on the 230/250/292 series?
Also, did large trucks after '62 use up the remaining 235's or were they gone by Dec. 1962?

Some people have reported that 235s were used into 1963.
The 261 was supposedly used into 1963 (on a 4x4 truck, I think).
Someone else will have to reply on the "BH" pattern (I do not know what that refers to).
It should be quite easy to distinguish a post 235/261 engine (4-machine screw valve cover on 235/261).

I know that once 230/250/292 series were introduced, Chevy standardized so the I6's, SBC & BBC's all had the same bolt pattern. I think this went all the way up to at least 1996.
I'm thinking if I get the '62 235 it'll required some effort to get it into my '53 Bel-Air 3spd. I presume I'll need the car BH, some modified side mounts, and do something about the water-pump & fan.

The bellhousing pattern is the same as all other 216/235/261 engines, the 6 didn't change to the V8 style bellhousing until the block change in '63. I've never heard of a US spec truck with a 235 after '62, but I have heard of the 261 being used in the 4x4s in '63. I do know that the 235 and 261 were used up to around '76 in South American spec Chevrolets.
If the truck you're looking at is a 3/4 ton, it could be a facory 261. That was an option on 3/4 and 1 tons that year.

As I read more and more on the net, info is starting to blur between the two I6 generations. You've confirmed what I'd learned back in the 80's & 90's. It's amazing how much interest has gathered for the Stovebolts since then, now there are quite a few more vendors and owners keeping them going.
The owner of this '62 doesn't know if it's a 1/2-ton or not. Fingers crossed...although a good running 235 wouldn't be bad either. It's too bad I don't need or want the rest of the truck.

It talks about the new engines and among them, the new 194 ci straight six available only in the ChevII and Nova for 1962.
