Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 65 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 65 | Hi My truck is a 1937 Chev 1/2 ton Right hand drive (engine cast in Canada) Getting ready to start the engine but noticed a kink in the small copper oil line from oil pump back to the block (located on the carb side of the engine) so I though no problem I will replace that section. After loosening conections coolant leaked out of block - Question - is the oil line one piece from oil pump to rockers? if so how is this replaced

It goes through the water jacket on the way, so it must be sealed. The fittings in the block the line goes through have compression-type ferrules that are one-time use items. If you want to replace the line, most of the antique parts distributors have a kit available that includes a line the right size and the necessary fittings to do the job. You only get one chance to do it right. Jerry

I believe they used a male pipe thread fitting that transitioned to a compression fitting. They drilled out the middle so the tube could pass through. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 65 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 65 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,811 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,811 | There was a post a while back where someone made their own version of this line. I suggested that fix, along with using a piece of 3/16" steel brake line since the original-equipnment 3/16" copper line is almost impossible to find. The steel line is a little tricky to bend without collapsing it, but otherwise, it's a pretty simple fix. Jerry
