Flushed My radiator today..Followed the directions, and the final step was to fill it with water for a final rinse. I did that and saw a bit of smoke coming out of my valve cover Breather..should that concern me? also, after this I put the anti freeze in,and tried to start it and the Battery was dead,,But I think I need to venture over to the electrical shop with that Question. A small amount of smoke from the breather is normal. Too much indicates worn piton rings. Be shure your road draft tube is not plugged up.
You might have run the battery down from long idle periods. Generators don,t charge at idle. Charge the battery up, start it up & make shure it shows charge on the anp. gauge when you rev it up a little.
That,s good with the 7 lb. cap.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Road Draft tube. That is the Pipe that angles down to the ground..Mine is in between the Starter and The fuel pump.?? How do I check that,,The reason I was concerned about the Smoke is that I never had smoke before..It was very little smoke.I thought the smoke thing may have happened cause I was flushing the second time with straight water, and it maybe just was not cooling enough with the water.? Oh well. Never thought about the Idle charge either, I will throw a charge on it,and check the ammeter. Stuart over at Electracle gave me some great insight also. I will be able to tackle this Problem..If there even is one. Thanks M/G

Mike

There shouldn't be any connection between flushing the cooling system, & blow-by (smoke & draft) at the valve cover. Just coincidence,- as long as it was not steam

No Steam...Everything is good. I have to post some pics of at least my engine...It looks great all painted..clean..I had 50 years of grime to clean...cleand everything under too.Right now I have taken off all fenders, and inner fenders to get at things easy. I inspected my wires..they look good..pretty new. Except for the sender unit wire and ground.I replaced those 2 wires and funny thing happened..My fuel guage started to work. I am going to take oics tonight and post them real soon. Thanks for The help...oh ya..My oil is running real clean also.Although I have not done a hot oil change yet...M/G
