I need to start planing all the stuff that it's going to take to fix her up ,Any thoughts on GMC info would be a good start I ordered the shop manual today.I can't wait to get started it's been alittle boring not working on a truck every day.
I need info on things like engine color, brake sys.,etc,etc.
Thanks Pete

Be sure to join the discussion forums. There are lot's of subtle differences between the Advance Design trucks and the New Design GMCs. Don't let anyone tell you they are the same. First thing you need to do is get rid of those goofy looking parking lights and get some GMC ones on there. | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 289 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2007 Posts: 289 | Here is a link to pictures of an unrestored '49 with 2,700 original miles, original paint and upholstery that I had an opportunity to see recently. It has helped to answer many of my questions on a '52 1/2 ton I am restoring. '49 GMC Longbed 1/2 ton As Cletis said oldgmctrucks.com has been a tremendous help as well. Here is a link on that forum board that will answer a lot of your paint color questions. engine paint colors

Man what a find, those kind of truck and cars should be preserved exactly as they are other than cleaning the grease and mud off once in awhile. Thanks for hosting those pictures. Keep us posted on your restoration. I'm gonna be buggin' Pete to take a lot of pictures this time round.
