Mike,

That looks really nice. How did you do it?

Thanks Dale. If there is enough interest, I could make more. Maybe do something to benefit this site. Just a thought. I would definitely have to have a discussion with John and Peggy first though.

Thanks.

I really appreciate all the positive feedback but I don't want to get ahead of things. I was just thinking is all. I also want to obey the forum rules against selling. I will contact Peggy and see what she and John think. Maybe something could be worked out. My original post was just because I was excited about showing off my new knob!

Pretty cool. Where did you come up with the medallion?

Old Gold knows the rules but it appears others don't. If you want to compliment him on his work, do it here. If you want to buy something, do it buy PM.

That is some impressive work, Mike.

Yes, it has a threaded brass insert.

Thanks again for all the nice comments, folks.

I had a dream last night that I was trying to design a shift knob for my truck when I found that someone had already designed a perfect one that was antiqued and everything.

The first thing I see when I open up the Stovebolt this morning is the dream knob.

I have always liked(loved) the art deco design and, Old Gold, your knob lookes great. My wife likes it too.

This is a very cool idea. Everyone be ready - this may go the same direction as the Stovebolt license plate holder. Stay tuned!

Thanks for thinking of us Mike.

That is an awesome shifter knob! Made me jealous! Amazing craftsmenship! I know you made the badge, but how? Did you just get a piece of alluminum and press it into a mold? I'm stumped.

Thanks for your kind words. The insert is actually made of brass, not aluminum.

I assume that since the design requires the knob to never twist that there would be a locknut at the bottom to prevent the knob from ever twisting, otherwise the logo could easily be off.

The lock-out nut is on the existing shifters.

Hey Mike, after three pages of wonderment and people hinting around about it, I
guess I, being of the brash outgoing type will have to be the one to come right out
directly and ask it. How did you make the insert?????
You either made a punch and die that you’re stamping them with from thin brass
or you’re making them individually in a CNC or you’re acid etching them and
them polishing them.
I’d guess that the knob itself is either cast urethane or polyester resin or else
machined in a CNC from Delrin or something similar.
You seem very reluctant to tell us how your doing it. But honestly, we’re not going
to take steal your secrets from you, 99.9% of us are not in the business of producing
limited numbers of shifter knobs in competition with you. But some of us would like
to know how you made them.

Incredible! It's a true work of art. It wouldn't fit my '48 three-on-the-tree shifter, but I'd buy one anyway and figure out a way to incorporate it into my truck.

I wanted to put one last post in here. I can appreciate why Cletis locked this thread. I see Joe W posted a link back to it in the Swap Meet.

BUT ... to let you all know, I should have called Mike on Monday and it didn't happen. It's back on the list for today - weekend for sure.

As I mentioned, this reminds me of the license plate frame. We have some very talented people on the site and we appreciate that some of it covers our area of interest. So, we'll get it worked out. But as Cletis said, feel free to PM Mike if you want to get something soon.
