Hello,Leif from Norway here.

I`m a new guy, and some of you from the Topic site asked if I could tell you a little about my truck,so here I go.
My `53 3100 was imported to Norway a few years ago from Savannah,GA,I have relatives there.I drive this truck all year around,and that says a lot about the truck,the norwegian winters are COLD!After the first winter,I had to convert it to 12V..I put snow tires on it,plus a lot of weight over the rear axleand that takes care of most of the skidding.
My wife has a brand new BMW,but which of the cars do you think fires up on cold mornings?Yup,you`re right..
I try to keep my truck original,not meaning I`m a purist.Have added a lot of accessories like Fulton cap,spot ligt,fog lights,turn signals, etc etc.But I don`buy any new Chinese stuff,only american made stuff, made in the 50`es.The truck was badly rusted when I bought it,but I have taken care of that little by little by a LOT of welding and NOS parts like fenders,inner fenders and so on.Plus a lot of sheet metal and patch panels I have bought new from Jim Carter,those guys have been very helpfull and friendly.Thanks,Sheba!

Hello, Leif! Welcome to the 'bolt. Glad to have you aboard. I have good friends in Oslo, and distant relatives in Levanger.

Anyhow, looking forward to seeing some pics and hearing more about your truck. I'm trying to get the '61 driveable for year-round driving. It's also cold where I live. So, do you use a block heater or dipstick heater?

Welcome Leif. What do they use on the roads there for ice control? Here they use sand or salt depending on the temp. cause thats the cheapest for the municipality , but, not those who have their vehicles rust because of it.

Murray,not trying to get too far O/T but I'm sure Leif will clarify this.
AFAIK in certain parts of Norway,(studded?)snow tyres are mandatory on vehicles at certain times of year,and NO salt on the roads.
Add to that good driving skills.
I think that's why Scandinavia has produced so many good rally drivers over the years.

A friend of mine used to import VW Beetles from that region due to their great condition.
The chrome was usually perfect and rust was negligible.
All thanks to no salt and low humidity levels.
Unlike here in the UK that uses countless tons of salt and an inate inability to drive on the white stuff that has caused the premature death of many classic vehicles.
