Jorb sent me a link to this "1940 Chevrolet" listing on eBay.

It is an interesting conversion of an early Advance-Design 1-ton panel. Too bad there are no fender spears on the rear. And, too bad the convertor did not put the stainless window trim on the "crew" door to make things look more "natural".

Would the crew doors fit without "stretching" the body?

Thanks for the "heads up", Jim

Tim, You asked' Would the crew doors fit without "stretching" the body? I don't think so.

Notice picture with the truck on the back of the tow truck, running board is under the front fender and rear fender is extended down. Weird! Running board looks longer than a 1 ton truck running board.

Looks like a '47 to me, and what an interesting conversion. Thanks for the pic!

Yes, it is an early Advance-Design panel.

How would you tell if it is 47, 48, 49, or 50 from what is shown in that photo?

From what I've read and seen over the years, the deluxe fender trim was only on the '47, but lot's of folks put it on later trucks (if they are lucky enough to find it!) It does look good. Maybe someone with a parts catalog can verify years it was available.

The "bright metal [stainless steel] moldings for front and rear fenders" was only available on Panel trucks (models 3105, 3805 : RPO 390B) but it was available in most Advance-Design years: 1947-51 and 54/55. It looks like it not available in 1952-53 because some metals (nickel in this case, I think) was needed for the Korean conflict.
