I just got my cab back from the painter and I'm ready to mount it back on the frame. The cab mounting kit has two cup washers, 2 bolts, 2 rubber shims, 2 metal shims, and 8 rubber bushings with no instructions.

I know the bolts, washers, and shims are for the front mounts, but I'm not sure about the 8 bushings for rear. My guess is the bushings are used to replace the existing rubber in between on the shackles for the rear mounts, 2 bushings per bolt, 4 bushings per shackle? Do the rear shackle mounts bolt up directly to the under side of the cab? Does a rubber shim go in between the shackle and under side of cab?

I searched past postings for this info but did not find anything.

Thanks,

Hey Tim, I just replaced my front cab mounts yesterday. My kit was the same as yours and I think they are short two rubber shims. My truck originally had a rubber shim between the cab and the frame to isolate vibration, and then it had a shim between the frame and the square washer. I reused two of my old rubber shims to have the correct number. I cannot believe the improvement in road noise. You will want this bottom washer to prevent noise from traveling up the cab mount bolt into your floor board. The rear shackle mount has nothing between it and the cab.

Here are a few pics of the rear mounts off my 50

I also had no rubber between the rear schackles and cab bottom.
I did not use the rubber that came in the kit. The bushing in my schackles were in good shape. I just put a light coat of G.P. grease and reassembled the schakles.

The new rubber bushings looked to long to me. If I had used them I would of had to cut them down.

Good Luck

Thanks for the information, pictures and links. This is exactly what i needed. Any ideas on measurements to line up the cab evenly on the frame?

Thanks again!

These cab mounts often have shims that come with them for either frame fit or body measurement purposes. Here is a picture of a complete set:

The lock plates go inside the cab behind the seat pan to keep the bolts from pulling through. I have seen cabs with as many as 4 shim plates and some with none.
