I have my eye on a 4.8L vortec engine and 4l60E trans from a 2010 silverdo. It comes with everything ready to drop in. How hard are these modern engines to put into our older trucks with their sensors and all for emmisions and what not. will a Simple reprogram of the EMC fix it for me?

can I get it to work?

I hate when people leave their brains at home. Seriously when did critical thinking and customer service go out the window? How about common sense and striving to go the extra mile? Idiots, surrounded by idiots it tell you.

Hy Silverado_9c3, there is a saying in this business/ hobby, "anything will fit in anything, how much money do you have". Seriously I doubt it will be any easier to install than any other V8 engine. I doubt anyone makes an ecm to eliminate many of the sensors. You'd be better off to install the engine using all the stuff it was designed to work with, the engine and transmission must communicate, and you'll need a high pressure fuel pump for the fuel injection. I'm really not trying to put you off of the swap, but it is a lot more complicated than a non fuel injected, non computer controlled engine.

If you get everything from the engine, and set it up as the oem built it, there shouldn't be a problem. However, you may consider ditching the oem computer and harness for an aftermarket stand alone system. That will do away with the bulk of the unused pertions of the harness that might affect the operation, such as the body power module, TPMS, On-Star, and all the other usless stuff that's tied into the computer.

well I am for sure going with fuel injection. so I will have to have high fuel pressure either way. I go to car shows and see these engines (ls series) in alot of the cars I just dont know how to do it yet!
