Of course PPG will recommend buying their double priced high build primer, but any seasoned wise ones out there know better?

I painted the running boards over two years ago on my 1950 Chevy using Kirker UP732 2K urethane primer surfacer followed by PPG Concept DCC9000 acrylic urethane in gloss black. The finish is extremely durable no chips or scratches even with the constant stepping in and out of the truck. I was thinking of doing PPG's urethane enamel for the price. Any thoughts on that?
Also, forgot to ask how many gallons of high build are typically needed for these trucks?
