It helps. I also put in a pcv and tapped into my old oil breater hole to do it. My 55.1 doesn't stink anymore, but I use some oil on my rebuilt engine, since this whole system was installed. I looked and there is oil in the line leading from the vac pump to/from the intake manifold. I am suspecting that I have something wrong. Is the glass bowl fuel filter on the fuel pump supposed to point up or down? And, what is the proper routing of the vac lines? Thanks - Scott

The PCV should not run through the pump. You also need air into the engine as well as air out through the PCV valve.

Thanks for the reply. Should I have it this way:
A line from the oil breather at the bottom of the engine to the pcv, to a "T". One leg of the "T" goes to the intake manifold and the other leg of the "T" goes to the Vac pump.
Then another line from the Vac pump to the wiper motor.
And thanks for the tip on the oil. I bought an ebay rebuilt vac/fuel pump and it happened just as you said with blue smoke etc. It was replaced with another rebuilt and although it doesn't smoke, it does have oil in the line from the vac pump to the "T".
