I need help with my 46 ½ ton OE Huck brake reassembly.
When assembling a new E-brake cable assembly to a backing plate: is the OE retainer installed onto the new cable, sandwiching the cable between the new and OE retainer; then threading the spring end of the cable into the backing plate (outside to in) and bolting the sandwiched cable end to the backing plate placing a gasket between? Or, does the cable thread through the backing plate (inside to outside) and the new and old retainers sandwich the backing plate, a gasket, and cable? Pictures of the two options are at the link.

Any help is appreciated

Got a picture from fellow bolter Dave and it shows option 1 was the answer. If interested I posted the photo along with the options.
