Hi,
My best guess is that the water pump takes 80W90 gear oil but if anyone has a suggestion please let me know. It is original equipment and I do not want risk burning if out as it is orignal equipment. Briggs and Stratton was great emailing me the manual for the 1940 Briggs and Stratton Single that powers it but all I know about the pump is that it is a 1940 made by Hale in Coshohocket? PA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the links. You have probably kept me from making a terminal mistake as I would have had to put something in it to top it up eventually.
Thanks again,
Norm

Thanks for the link to Hale. The resources they emailed me are very detailed. They include the not only the case oil, but also detailed operating instructions and very detailed prints of the pump.
Thanks again,
Norm
