Greetings, O' Guru's!

I have a 1 bbl intake that I'm installing with Headers. It's casting # 3998149.

Do I need to plate the bottom of the intake? I'm wondering if there was an EGR bleed orifice on these manifolds...?

I ain't no guru, but if you're talking about a 250 stock intake from '66 then as far as I know EGR didn't exist back then. Since the intake's bottom is closed, I don't see the need for a plate unless you want to setup some kind of manifold heat contraption.

Cool. I just got confirmation that the goofy orifice EGR jobs were a California only thing around 1972.
Does anybody make a heating plate for this intake, or is it time to get creative?

Hi Blue C10,
I suggest doing a thread search using "intake manifold heat" or other such terms. I have no personal experience with heating an intake. I do remember seeing quite a few past discussions on the subject.

The posts keep pointing to Clifford Performance, but the site doesn't list that part. I searched to no avail.
My Furnace won't handle iron, but I suppose I could cast an aluminum part. That'll keep me off the streets for a couple nights, and amuse the neighbors. smile
