Old trucks and speed.
I remember as a teen when the speed limit was 75 hmmm think it was that. Any how the old 57 chev 3100 with 3.9 gears would scoot along at 70 plus no problemo, and the whole everything cept the engine was stock. Oh and it got about 24 mpg on the freeway.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

Oh and still most all big trucks are a straight axle front end, and not all are air ride. And not too many years ago some class 8 trucks didn't even come with front brakes. They would also scoot pretty quick back then. The only up grade an old truck needs is to make sure the existing parts are in good shape and not worn.

I can pull 60 mph an my 51 ford f6 after installing an auxillary OD. all new brake shoes booster and MC and it will stop on a dime. of course I dont worry about pulling a load that fast cuz the original motor just cant do it so I am stuck pulling loads at 45-50mph. The original brakes when adjusted properly will stop fine.

Hey Timmer...all of your pix of the axle work have vanished. Any chance of getting another look?
