The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 350 intake manifold choices

Looking for an intake manifold for my 1991 350 motor. The Edelbrock site lists this:

"Performer - For 1987-95 Cast Iron Cylinder Heads: Designed for street 262-400 c.i.d. Chevy V8s equipped with factory cast iron heads with canted center bolt holes. Will not fit 1987-95 factory aluminum cylinder heads. Will not fit Chevy Bowtie or LT1 heads."

Does this mean that if I went with a stock manifold I would have to get one from those years due to the "canted center bolts" on the cast iron heads?

So nothing pre- 87 would work?

Hy cbrackle, I think any manifold for any 350 back to 68 would fit the application you describe, But I'm no expert on this new fangled stuff, hope that helps.

The stock manifold uses a throttle body, so that's probably not what you are looking for.
I understand that you could make the earlier manifolds work by modifying the center bolt holes. I have not done it but it seems feasable.

I've seen earlier intakes fitted to 87-up engines by elongating the center bolt holes,if you don't have the coin for the Edlebrock.

I've modified older factory and aftermarket manifolds (pre 87) to work with these heads without any problems. To use an older intake you need only change the angle of the two center holes on either side. You can do this by using a 7/16" drill bit to and enlongate the holes. I would add a washer under the bolt here to help pull the intake down evenly. If your going to buy an aftermarket manifold then the Edelbrock is the way to go. Good luck.
