Hello, before leaving for Afghanistan I was getting pretty close to taking my 46 1/2 ton for it's first trip around the block. When I got home a few days ago I jumped right into things. Everything went as smooth as could be- the 216 fired up easy and runs great, brakes are good to go etc...but...
The transmission went into first gear no problem the first time, clutch grabbed well. At the end of the driveway (all excited), I took it out of first and started to put it in reverse. I could feel the gears turning as I eased it up near reverse. I adjusted the clutch some and was able to get it a bit better but not good enough.
I managed to take my first trip around the block but not without a bit of grinding. Driving in second was quite loud with a long squealing sound. I can also here short, intermittent squealing sounds when in neutral. Is the throwout bearing the problem?
I see in my parts list that there is a Throwout Arm Spring, 7-5/16in and a Clutch Pedal Return Spring. The clutch pedal return spring is installed but where exactly the throwout arm spring attaches is not clear to me.
Here's how she'll be until next spring, then back to original I think.
