my '52 needs some interior paint. the original 'sun beige' is poking through in places and i'd like to repaint a similar color, but on the cheap w/ rattle cans. anyone had luck finding a close match off the shelf?

Here is the rattle can I used on my 50. It matched pretty good the original color that was on there but Im not sure if its "sun biege"

Yep, that Rustoleum is a fairly good match for the original paint.
The absolute best match I've seen so far and several of the guys here have used it, is the offset formula from the PPG color library for the original Ditzler formula. That would be PPG DBU 27467 shown here along side the Rustoleum 7272: http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/123581933/large

The Rustoleum is about ten times cheaper than the PPG DBU so if your not doing a show truck it's a good look alike.

Great, Denny and DADS50 - thanks to you both.

I have a 1948 that I am fixing up, not show truck, but fun truck, and want it to be close to the correct color. Would the rustoleum 7754 and 7272 be close for my truck?

I was able to find a spot on the firewall of my 50 that still had the original color ...pic...

The 7272 was very close to that color. Not an exact match but close.
The 7754 I found at the hardware store and used on column, shifter, and steering wheel for contrast. This color may not be close to original.

Will it match a 48? Dont know, Someone else will have to answer that.
Ive seen some AD cab interiors that were silver, or gray. If thats the case These rattle can colors are not close at all.

Next time I'll go with the color code Denny posted earlier and spray it.
