Well i just bought a set of new fenton headers off ebay, have not got them yet. So today i was at a friends farm shop to fix some arcade games and pinballs and was watching them pull a 216 out of an old fork lift and putting in a 235 with a 848 head and factory split exhaust. but they are not going to use the split exhaust so i saw them toss it to the side complete with intake. i asked about it and they gave it to me. now the question is do i use the factory split or the new fetons. this will be going in to a '49 3100 with a 261 3 on the tree. I will get the #s off the 235 when i go back tomorrow.

If it is for sure the factory dual exhaust and not a conversion they just gave you a rare Corvette manifold that most people have to pay more for than you paid for the Fentons.

What is the casting number on the "factory split exhaust",
and the casting number on the intake.

Then we can tell you what you have and
which one you should use.

Sell the Fentons.
It's your lucky day!

The big difference is the built-in heat riser system which gets away from the cold-natured problems the aftermarket split manifolds have. That alone is a good reason to run the factory setup.
