Is there a way to align 1937 Chevy truck hood halves without taking the halves off the center hinge and rereviting them? My hood left side is about an inch+/- further down (toward the front of the truck) than the right side. Its the original hood and it appears never to have been in an accident (no welds, waves, or bends).

I've not seen a '37 hinge but if it's the same as my '38 it's impossible for it to be that far out without some sheetmetal damage to the "hinge" area of the hood half. Check where the front of the affected hood half rides on the hinge. You should be able, with the hood open, to push the hood half back into alignment. That will give you a better view of what's going on at the front of the hinge area.

If your '37 is same hinge as my '40, the hinge is in 2 pieces, with one side sliding inside the other. As Tiny said, you should be able to move one side relative to opposite side. If not, hinge may be rusted a bit ?

You may also want to look at the top of your grill. I'm not sure on the '37 but on '39 & '40 trucks the top grill header can be out of alignment and cause the hood halves to appear to be sitting different.

37chevypu, post some pics so we can see what's going on. I know I have issues with my '40 hood also, so maybe we can all learn something....
