My C30 has the four speed on the floor. When I am cluched I hear something spinning...with like a light metal on metal noise. This is not a grind or a sharp noise...just a metalic whirring.
So while experimenting I decided to take it out of gear while stopped...so as not to hold the clutch pedal down. That stopped the noise.
But....then when I went to get back into gear it was a hard shift...as if the engine was running too fast or something.
Any ideas...and is it fixable?

#76483 04/19/2007 12:09 AM | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Could also be the tin plate just in front of the flywheel held on by two tangs to the oil pan and two bolts to the bellhousing.If the plate jumped out of the oil pan lip it would make that noise when the clutch is depressed and the flywheel moves forward.Remove the plate and check for rubbing like it was put on a grinding wheel.

This you would see if someone else does the clutching while you look. | | |
