I was wondering where to find a new flywheel for a 1953 Chevy 3100 1/2 ton 216. My starter and flywheel need to be replaced. I tried a handful of shops looking for a flywheel, but no luck. (Brothers, Classic Ind., Summit Racing, etc.) Any leads would be appreciated. I am in Central CA and was hoping to have it here by Tuesday! Thanks. -BILL

Do you really need both? If the teeth are damaged on the flywheel ring gear, you may be able to have a machine shop drive off the existing ring gear and reverse it. New ring gears are available from the Filling Station as are the starter drives. www.fillingstation.com

I needed a new flywheel ring gear for my 1954 GMC water truck 302 engine. We used to get them at the local auto-parts. I was having trouble trying to locate it and one of the vintage parts houses mentioned Stove Bolt. While searching the forums I ran across your post. The Filling Station had the ring gear in stock. I converted the truck to 12 volts decades ago and was concerned I was getting the correct gear as there is a different part listed for 12 volt. The gentleman at The Filling Station knew off the top of his head that the 12 volt ring gear would be used in and after 1955 when the truck became 12 volt standard. The 139 tooth ring gear I had was correct for the application. Thank you for your help.
