Approach with CAUTION Simon! All of the vendors can supply parking brake cables, but unless they've found new sources, all of them that I've seen for the 1/2-ton trucks have been to short. They're just long enough to reach the backing plate and leave absolutely no slack for the movement of the rear end. Also they're to short and the bracket that's riveted to the frame can just barley grab them.

There was and article about Inline Tube in Classic Truck magazine back about a decade ago. Said they custome make brake cables to your exact dimemsions. I'm sure it would cost a bunch more than those from the standard repro vendors but at least you know they are going to fit, and to me that in it self is worth twice as much.

Hey Peter, if you're goin in there next week why don't you post the numbers for us. Although Inline Tube can custom make them, I'm sure they are a big buck item from them.

Has anyone recently gotten a brake cable from Inline Tubes? I tried to buy one several years ago, and they did not make one for my 1954 1/2 ton trucks.

Inline Tubes page with parking brake cable information - they now state that they can make it any size for any vehicle.

The one I got from Classic Parts (Chevy Duty) about 8 years ago works fine on my 1/2 ton pickup and suburban. I found a NOS set on eBay several years ago and that is what I will use on the 1/2 1954 pickup that I am working on (unless Inline Tubes or someone else has a SS reproduction that works).

healingbear,

Thanks for the part number.

I have not found any rubber boots that last. Has anyone found a part number from Steele Rubber?
