I'm rebuilding my Rochester B. I went to my local parts (Lordco- Canadian) store to get a rebuild kit and they said they needed the number off the carb. When I bought the BC rebuild kit they didn't need the number; so I'm not sure of the problem. Are they just the typical (go by the book, don't think) parts people or do I need the tag number.
It's a Rochester B off of a '51 216. I want to put it on my 235, if that matters.
Maybe someone can help me out.
Thanks.

I'm not sure it will fit the 235. Seems like the bolt holes aren't the right distance. But it shouldn't be hard for them to find a kit for it. Unless they don't know how to look it up in a book.

there are a number of different "Rochester B's" and ones for different applications [including tractors] that have different internals, it's always best to have the tag number, but check here and take a guess which one you might have

There is only 2 kits listed for the model B. The parts guy should be able to get it from the application. They put extra parts in them so one kit can cover several variations.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
