Howdy,

I have a '58 GMC 2.5 ton (yeah I know, a big truck) with a stuck 270 and a muncie sm420 4-speed. I have a line on another 270 (the easy fix) but also have a line on a low mileage 292 from a '66 Chev 5 ton. The 292 has a 5-speed attached to it.
Does anyone know the specs. ( horsepower, torque) for the 270 vs 292. Would I gain anything ? Will the 292 bolt up to the Muncie without any headaches or modifications ?
Along the same vein, would I gain anything from using the 5-speed with the 292 or just be better off keeping the original 4-speed.
