I'm rebuilding the 3-speed tranny and in checking the clutch both the pressure plate and flywheel are heat checked. I want to have them turned or replaced but I can not get the flywheel off - any suggestions. This truck has been my daily driver up til a few days ago when I pulled the tranny. | | |

Get 2 prybars & work it back & forth from behind. A little penatrant will help. Be careful. That thing is heavy & can come down fast.

#76278 04/12/2007 8:48 PM | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Pull the bolts off,then put two back on a few turns to keep it from falling on your head.Spray some Kroil or WD-40 on the crankshaft end and hit the flywheel with a piece of wood (2x4).You can have the flywheel machined but not the pressure plate surface.

Must be able to cook , clean , sew , tune engines and polish trucks. Must have old Stovebolt and garage. Please send picture of old Stovebolt and garage.

Had the flywheel and pressure plate resurfaced today and will be installing them tomorrow. The ring in the pressure plate was broken so had that re-rivited and the plate resurfaced - basically rebuilt - less than $70 which I thought was a VERY good price. | | |
