I need to convert my generator to alternator. I have the bracket.
Where do I get a pulley that has a wide enough groove for the belt and will fit the shaft.
I am assuming that the single groove on a alternator is too narrow for the belt on my 58.
What is the width of the original belt and diameter of the shaft?
I boiled my battery on the trip back from the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton yesterday. The cost of a battery warrants the conversion But I did win a 1000$ towards a transmission build at the draw Sunday night.

If you'r using a delco alternator the pulley from the generater should swap. You may need use a spacer behind the pulley fan for clearence.

Ditto on ttodd's comment. I have done two of these swaps with no problem. Be aware that the generator pulley is (in my experience) larger than the alt. pulley, resulting in a slower turning alt. that may not charge at idle unless you increase RPM.

I have a power master alternator. If you plan on using a smaller delco alternator, be sure that the internal regulator charges when idling. Some of the regulators won't charge the battery unless you are running at a certain RPM.
