Does the1954 235 have a breather cap. This engine did not have a cap for the valve cover so I used the flat cap from the 216.
The valve cover has slits in it I assume for pressure relief.
Does it make a difference if the valve cover has a flat cap and not a breather?

I talked with the original owner who bought the truck new in '54 and nothing was changed or added to this truck. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/135657171 I've restored it by repaint and reletter but its physically just the was it was originally delivered from the factory. Are you sure that engine paint is from the filling station?? Must be the lighting it looks awful light for the FS359 paint. The 216 was painted with a modern grey engine enamel
The 235 is painted with a duplicolor blue that the shop used
I did not stay with original colors
