i have been searching for info on swapping the laternator to the drivers side, since i will soon buy an a/c unit and would want to run the compressor on the passengers side, for a more clean look, not having the a/c hoses run across the motor.
from what i have found, it looks like early small blocks, from 63-66 327's, and some early 307's run the laternator on the drivers side. BUT im sure they all run short water pumps ?
im guessing if i were to just get those alternator brackets to run it on the drivers side, because of my long water pump, i would have to make some spacers to move the brackets OUT to kake the belt line up ?
what are your thoughts on this swap ? the brackets are cheap enough if i couldnt get it to work, but would like all your input on my idea.
thanks guys.

It was designed for a short pump. You would have to fabricate some sort of additional bracket to mount the early bracket to your engine. You would probably be better off with some aftermarket brackets. Fred

LOL.
