My truck has a 235, 3spd. column shift and I would like to put on a safety switch so it won't start in gear. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

You'll have to rig a switch on the clutch pedal or linkage that will break current flow to the starter solenoid until the clutch is disengaged. Hope this helps.

A safety switch that would have to complete a circuit when TWO levers are in the neutral position is possible but not easy. All later model standard trans use the clutch switch where the clutch pedal has to be down near the floor for the starter to engage.

Nash used to use a stomp-start type switch operated by a tab on the clutch pedal. As the pedal came close to the floorboard, the last inch or so of pedal travel actuated the starter solenoid. I think there was also a vacuum-operated safety switch in the carburetor that prevented the solenoid from engaging with the engine running
