It steers easily, but the turning radius is way too long, and it shimmies on bumps and wanders a bit--all this with all new steering, suspension, and axle components. I am planning to re-install the original steering, and have two questions--can I insert the steering column from the bottom if I remove the headers, and what is the correct term for the bracket which bolts to the spindle and backing plate and receives the front end of the drag link? On the conversion kits it is a Y-shaped bracket. I think 59 was last year for straight axle, but not certain. Most of the power steering kits available from our usual suppliers specify pump and steering box from a 73-87 C10. My engine is a 350 with headers of unknown make-Thorley,Hedman, ??

are you giving up on the power steering ?
after all that hard work i would want to fine tune it and keep the power steering. might be something simple. maybe take it to a front end shop and see what they can find.
