So a buddy of mine was a swapper back in the day, and came across an old Draw-Through Turbo Setup for a V8. Present day he still has it and has no use for it, so he gave it to me. I do not have pictures of it as of today, but I am going to get some this coming weekend. It appears to have all the major components (turbo, carburetor housing, oil line and intake manifold adapter and the exhaust manifold w/ mount for turbo. I think if can get this all hooked up and working, it will look awesome under the Suburbans hood!!
Why would I do this you ask?? I like different and its free.

Single turbo, or one for each side?
Draw-through meaning the carb is before the turbo? So the air/fuel mixture gets compressed?
What about the wastegate (exhaust side)? Overpressure protection on the air side?

Compressed air/fuel mixture venting in the engine bay would be a bad idea, so I do not know what could be done to relieve that issue. I found a picture on the web that gives me a rough idea of how it might look... Before you embark on an engineering nightmare, you need to see if the turbo can still be rebuilt. Even modern turbos fail quite often if they have been out of service for several years. Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 104 | Update- Found out some great information on this beast today. 1. The name of this kit is a Shelby Spearco Turbo Kit from the late 60's - early 70's. 2. This was an expensive kit back in the day, about 4k for the whole kit. 3. I am missing some parts (nothing I can't fab), but the extras are cooler than crap i.e. water-injection, boost gauge. 4. I found a guy 20mins from me selling his on craigslist for $2500.00 brand new / never been installed on a running engine. 5. This was suppose to be the "Bee's Knees" of turbos back in the day. I have a great idea of how it gets installed on an engine and I can't wait to get it on. I also found some great pictures of it installed on a long block. Here are the pictures !!!

Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 104 | No, it uses the stock manifold on the driver-side and a crossover pipe is needed to connect both manifolds. All exhaust empties from the back of the turbo. | | |
