The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline Radiator for 1959

I am needing a radiator for my 1959 Apache, and am pretty sure the years of 55 thru 59 are interchangeable, but am wondering if any other years would work, with some slight modifications? I'm having a hard time finding any local used radiators of those years, and thought maybe I could more easily aquire something newr that might work? any success stories?

newer rads are different shape cores, pretty hard to adapt to the 5-9 core supports, which is necessary to hold the front end together - might try a post in the parts wanted section, or better, check local rad shops about repairing yours, assuming you have a bad one

I was just looking for the same rad as you with pretty much the same results. I even took it to a local rad shop to be fixed and they didn't want to touch it. I ended up finding an aluminum rad on E-bay it fit really well and was just under $300

Those aluminum ones are floating all over on ebay - prices go all the way to over $500 I've seen, with no apparent difference with the ones at lower prices. I picked up one of the same price range as Village_Idiot (the lowest I could find at the time) and it's worked just fine.

If you have good local radiator shop, they can build you a new radiator using the original frame for less than you see those aftermarket radiators for. And since it's built on the original framework, you know it will fit. That's what I did, had it built with a 4 pass core and a largger lower tank, reused the original upper tank and frame. It looks stock. It ran me right around $350.

Leonard - that is the same brand I got. It's been great. That's a slightly better price than I paid too.

I've got one from my 59 that was tested and cleaned. The top is banged up and I bought one of those expensive ones to replace it. Send me an email if interested.
