I once used body plastic to patch the front steps of the used car sales office back in the '60s.

Used it on the pressure treated columns on my back porch 10 yrs ago to fill cracks and splits. It's the only filler I use outdoors. One of the big advantages is you can fill and paint the same day.

And wood will always expands and contracts. But, as mentioned above, some folks have had good results, so.... give it a shot

I couldn't disagree more. Body plastic is flexible by nature. It has to be to keep from cracking when the metal it's put on expands and contracts. The only time one needs to worry about plastic cracking is when it's put on too thick.
