Just got back from a 2427 mile trip. Ran 70-75 every chance I got. Got one in mine as well, probably the best alteration I did besides maybe the radial tires. The trans itself will bolt right up. The only issue I can think of might be the driveshaft, depending on which main transmission and overdrive unit it is. I beleive the later trans (7 bolt cover) is longer than the early trans, there may also be a length differenc from the RH10 (early) and RH12 (late) overdrive units. You may need a shorter driveshaft.

You will need a fine spline front yoke and make modifications to the shift arms and rods. The early version (55-65) will bolt right in - no mods.

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | The T5 is a good choice, but the SM318 is not only a direct bolt in, but retains the stock shift linkage, no need to cut a hole in the floor for a shifter. It also has the advantage of an automatic kickdown for passing.
