Hi guys. I'm new to the forums and my "new" '57 is in pieces in my barn.
As far as switching to power steering, has anyone tried or at least looked at using the rack out of a newer Chevy Malibu or Cobalt with the electric steering motor on the column?

You can also get a ididit column and get an electric power steering motor for it. A little pricier I know, but from an ease standpoint....

I am studying one out of a Malibu for my 34 coupe. Want to rotate the motor position to straight up to hide and get rid of all the extraneous junk. Decided to just use the motor and gearing in a custom made tube. On my other 34 I have the electric power steering pump from a Toyota MR2 but still had to hide the hoses. I really like Ididit but when your a retired old fart with a machine shop at your disposal then keeping busy projects is what it's all about.
