Using the later model dual chamber master cylinder with an adapter won't work because of space limitations (that big old 400 lb Hydra-Matic takes up a bunch of room).

You did not state if you want to use a manual or power master cylinder. I have a 54 with a hydo in it and I made my own bracket. The trans side of the bracket detaches so that the trans side pan can be removed. If you have any fabrication skills or know a fabricator, this is an easy bracket to fab. Check out my build pictures for some pictures of the master cylinder and mount. | | |
