Ok here's what I have.... an ingition coil mfg by Echlin mfg co. That's correct the same Echlin that's part of and supplies NAPA.
the tag on the coil says.... IC55 6volt
serial # M3039
Echlin mfg co. New Haven Conn. USA

As you can see in the pix, it has an aluminum cap that screws off and has some sort of socket under the cap. Any thoughts or ideas as to what the socket is for? or what fits it?

tnx
michael

and here's some pictures of it.....

Ive been around this stuff for 60 years & have never seen a coil like that. Echlin uses that number system. Your conventional coils are IC10 & IC12. I have some old catalogs at the shop. I will see if it shows anything like that. That could be a rare collector item.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Well according to both the local NAPA store.and echlin.... the IC55 number apply's to a coil for a 94-96 chrysler with a distributorless ign sys...
go figure.... and being 6v this coil pre-dates the current app by many many years.....
I also referenced my NAPA/Echlin books back as far as the 1976 ign book and no listing there for an IC55 coil.....
