I have a 1953 3100 1/2 ton I'm restoring and I'm finally at the point to finish the interior. Does anyone have any recommendations on who provides the best seat covers in terms of quality and fit? I'm looking for a good vinyl replacement. I have looked at most of the usual guys like LMC, Classic Ind, and Brothers but not sure if one is better than the other or if there is someone else I should check out. Thanks for your help.

This is my personal experience... I bought mine at Jim Carter's, OldChevyTrucks. I've been very pleased with the look and fit. They were perfect for me.

Jim Carter parts worked well for me as well. The cover was pre-cut and fit perfect.

I don't have a '53 it's a '65 and I got the LMC vinyl seat cover. It fit good and looks great except the seat back tore a little on each side at the bottom and I'm going to see it every time I get in and out. If I had to do it over again, and I probably will, I'd look at what Jim Carter had to offer.

I haven't gotten a seat cover from chevsofthe40s.com, but everything else that I've gotten from them has been very nice. Most of it has even been US made.

I got mine from American Classic Truck Parts for my '53. It's at the upholster right now...I will comment when I get it back.

I would bet there's a good chance that most of these vendors get them from the same Chinese factory.

Are you guys replacing the 'fixins' that go between the springs and cover?

I got mine from classic parts and it was fine. The fit was good and reupholstering was a fun job to do myself. I replaced the internal padding but did so with old cloth I had around the house, namely some old drapes to cover the springs and some sections of packing blankets as padding.

Photos here and here. As you can see, this is just after I finished the job - it hadn't even been out of the packing box long enough for the creases to release.
