Is the cab portion the same (over the drivers head) as a pickup...will a pickup headliner fit? Any great ideas to finish the roof cargo area without going show quality expensive?

No headliner in the pickup, all steel. I'm thinking of a 73-91 Suburban headliner for my burb.

Might be a bit expensive but I was thinking of finishing mine off with some kind of light panels. Like the ones that flash on Cash Cab. grin

Will the carpet from a pickup fit the panel?

1/8" Tempered hardboard, aka Masonite, is found in the Panels & Suburban Carryalls.

Someone posted a suggestion to use magnetic vinyl sign material. I thought was fairly slick. It can be cut to fit between the the cross pieces and stays put without glue.

Are you looking for acoustics, aesthetics, originality or functionality...virtually any material, that lays flat and can be attached will work, but form & function, will determine your choice of materials. Tempered hardboard is the factory application.

Did they use the same material all through out the headliner? Does anyone have pics of it installed?

headliners originally were pieces in between the bows, unfortunately you need a piece about 54" wide to reach the sides. I am waiting on a sample of plastic that is wide enough, The company uses it to line barn walls. the carpets are the same, but may come up short at the burb "step" behind the front seats. Check out Stockinteriors.com for carpet, they will sell additional pieces to match for the rear.

I don't know if you'd be interested in doing it this way, but here's mine- http://s660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Old64Suburban/
I insulated n soundproofed between the ribs, screwed 1X3s to the ribs longwise(5), and after spray gluing the ceiling material to some 1/4 Masonite I'd cut to fit, I then contact cemented the panels to the 1X3s. It took 3 pieces, leaving 2 seams across. For these, I wrapped screen molding with the material, and used a brad nailer to attach these over the seams. You have to look for the nail marks to find them. I believe a pin nailer would be even less conspicuous, but you'd want to nail at a little bit of an angle, since they have no heads.

Forgot to mention that someone had recently asked about headroom loss. After replying that I thought there'd be some loss of headroom, I doublechecked and realized I still had plenty. I'm 5' 10".
