For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 4 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 4 | Seemed straightforward-but-no so much. have had this truck maybe 3 or 5 years. has 7.5x16 on it now and the rims are only 5" I think. The tire guys wants me to buy new rims- I just want to replace the tires with some nice whitewalls. Ill drive it maybe a few hundred miles a year if that. should I go radial and if so what size- or are the dangers with bias tires really a big deal if I dont really work the truck- just drive around town? | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | As long as the rims aren't rusted thin they will take tubeless radials. Several of us are running LT215/85R16. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 | like cletis said, if the rims aren't ruined... I would go to another tire dealer, sounds a bit greedy to me. | | | | | Joined: May 2011 Posts: 35 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2011 Posts: 35 | Just had a set of Firestone LT215/85R16 light truck radials installed on my 1952 3100 last week. Although I mentioned installing tubes, the service guy inspected each rim and said they were fine. No leaks and the truck rides great. Huge improvement!
