I am having a sealing problem with a set of Vortec heads & an Edelbrock Performer manifold...

What gasket should I be using?? The GM dealer said to NOT use the factory gasket as the plastic does not hold up.

I looked at the Summit catalog & it says to use the Fel Pro gasket, but lists 2 different one.. .060 & .120 thickness..

Any input or suggestions appreciated.

It is possible that your heads might have been shaved. This changes the angle with the intake manifold. So you could try the 0.120" gaskets and make sure to use silicone sealant around the water passages on both sides of the gasket.

Not knowing the history of your heads, I don't know if that's the case. But it is one possible reason.

If you take your heads off, and sounds like you will, why not cc your combustion chambers? You should have 64cc, give or take. If you have a lot less than that, then maybe your heads WERE shaved.

Hey, I appreciate the response.. and that could have been the answer, however...

This is a new engine with new GM Vortec heads,, but the intake manifold that the shop used was,., MADE IN CHINA!!!!!!!!!

The manifold was not square... it is so out, that it would have to be cut to much to seal...even the .120 gaskets would not do it...

So, order a new Edelbrock, Made in the USA, manifold and take this piece of junk back to the shop I got it from...
