Any of you fellas know which way the holes face on the rocker arm shafts on a 235? One side has more holes than the other. I had to replace 4 mounting bracketrs because they were cracked all the way to the bottom! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 |

My parts motor also had cracked mounting brackets | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 84 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 84 | The side of the rocker arms with the more holes go up! The big holes are for the bolts, The small holes line up with the holes in the rockers to push the oil out the top. If the holes are down, there will be no oil coming out of the 12 rockers and you'll wreck stuff. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | If you look inside of each rocker you will see a groove that will carry the oil around the shaft and out the vent hole. If you put the shaft holes on top you will see oil squirting out the vent holes and flood the top leading to oil consumption.

I just posted a question regarding only one side of the rockers oiling on Wednesday. The advice I got was to put the holes up. I didn't have the valve cover back on yet so it worked out perfect. I went straight out at 10:30 at night to switch them over. Thanks | | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 84 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 84 | Thanx fellas!! Holes are now facing down! | | |
