Hello! This time, instead of lazing around, after the water gets out, I'm gonna' get started working on my truck right away. As such, the old 235 is almost ready to be slipped back together again. Now ... I'm looking for two things: A manual transmission, and an easy bolt together. I'm thinking NV4500, just a bellhousing swap, right? Or, if in a pickle, a 700r4, and can trade manual fun for cash ... Anyway. Does anybody know an easy transmission to bolt to a 235? Also: Would it be possible to use pedals (Given the firewall modifications, two more holes) off of a 1971 C-50 grain truck? Always thought those things looked cool.

The nv4500 swap requires an adapter plate and some aditional machining to work. An A833 (My6)4 speed transmission might be an easier and cheaper swap. There is no Bellhousing that will directly bolt a 235 to a nv4500.

The T-5 5 speed is great for that truck.

SM318 with the Borg-Warner overdrive is a direct bolt in. Even uses the stock shifter.

I am about to try one of those in my 61. I wish I still had the original column linkage for my truck.

Other than that, a Tremec T56 would rock! The adapter plate small block method would work. Man, that would be cool! Just choose a far up shifter location on the new unit. Pricey, but ultimate coolness.

I agree on the SM-318 OD. I have one in my Suburban. It works great with 3.90 gears.
