I'm confused. I has my rockers arms off for a valve seal job. Once put back on, I decided to check a valve that was clacking so I fired it up without the valve cover on. The firewall half of the rocker was oiling perfect. The radiator half only had 2 of the six rockers oiling, and they were barely doing it. Even after 4 or 5 minutes. I pulled the rocker arms off to check for plugged holes etc. Everything was clean and perfect. Any thoughts before I put it all back together (AGAIN)!

What RPM is the engine running? Oil volume through the pump is directly proportional to engine speed, so it's probably getting plenty of oil to all of them above idle speed. Is any oil coming out of the overflow tube in the center? If it is, just pinch the end of the tube about halfway shut.

RPM' were above 1000. Also, nothing out of the overflow. The left side was getting plenty and the right side was getting almost nothing. But it's all coming from the same place, hence the confusion.

Have you cleaned out the rocker shaft? That tube is a good place for sludge and crud to accumulate, and the oil will flow whichever way it encounters the least resistance.

how much oil pressure do you have. Its naver a bad Idea to removed rockers and clean it real good. I removed all of mine and cleaned them and put assemblie lube on it before starting mine after 12 years and it works good.

Lode51,

It looks like you cleaned the holes in the rocker arms, but when you had the rocker arms off, did you clean the shaft/tube as Hotrod Lincoln asked?

If you did, have you checked/watched the oil flow to the forward rockers at a higher RPM (higher than 1,000)?

Do you have a low pressure engine - 216 or pre-1954 truck 235? How much oil pressure do you show at idle (or, at 1,000 rpm)?

I figured it out. When I removed the whole assembly for the first time, I kept the rockers on the arm and it rotated 180 degrees. This put the holes that put the oil feed down, up, and messed up the oil feed to the rockers. When I removed everything the second time, and removed all the rockers, I noticed the wholes were the wrong way. Thanks. for the help.
