Anybody had any luck doing this? My other thought is to come as close as possible with the powder coat and then paint over it with the body color. Then any nicks or scratches might not be so noticeable.

I know the one that I use locally pulled out a color chip chain about 3 foot long of colors that he can get off the shelf. I want to say he could even match to color names and cross off paint codes. Now the catch was he had to order an entire box of powder, so there was quite an additional materials expense.
However, I have also painted powdercoating, and as long as you give it a good scuff with scotchbrite, it does hold on to the surface. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 144 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 144 | Thanks. It good to hear someone has had good luck painting over powder coat. I'll talk with a local powder coater and see what they have for colors. It costs a little more but worth it. As for covering blemishes, they can grind the wheels some plus my guy powder coated them twice, the first as a build coat. They came out really nice. | | |
