Rummaging through container #6 I found what was identified by HAMB'ers as a "Nash" style distributor. It has 2 coils and 12 plugs but appears to be modified by "Fisher ignition". I would like to put this cool doodad on the 302 I am building. The rotor is offset with two contacts and the cap is plugged off for six wires. What would I have to do to make this work? It looks like it bolts on to stock GM housings. I'll post pic's later today. I have spare caps and rotors as well. Would I be able to convert this to a pertronix HEI as well? This Dizzy is too cool for school... what a conversation piece it would be!!!!

That dizzy is for the Fisher crossflow head for the Chevrolet engine, I beleive. IIRC, that head used dual plugs.

Thanks Longbox.... got to talk to pops later today, he was having a pretty okay day. He remembered that the Dizzy was set aside for his Wayne Head. Dang!! Oh well, I'll get to use it soon enough, just not for this project. Can I get an HEI kit for the stock Dizzy????

Pertronics makes an electronic conversion for the stock distributor to replace the points. HEI distributors from the 250 and 292 can be made to work with a little machining. Tom Langdon and others sell an HEI distributor that has already been machined to fit the stovebolt and gmc engines. The wires used are from a 300 f*rd inline.

I've seen a tech tip somewhere that involves fitting a Mopar 6-cylinder electronic ignition trigger to a stovebolt distributor to replace the points and condenser and retain the stock-appearing small distributor. Its advantage is that it uses all off-the-shelf parts from the FLAPS rather than the proprietary Pertronix stuff. The output developed by the Mopar signal generator is used to trigger a standard GM HEI module and electronic ignition remote coil.
