I am considering gluing on the running board seal that runs between the body and the running board.I would be gluing it directly to the painted surface What should i use for glue? I was thinking PL Premium

Many glues and paint don't live well together. You might get by using weatherstrip adhesive.

I used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive with good results for installing fender welting and rubber seals on painted surfaces

American Classic Truck Parts Offers the retainers for that seal for $8.50 each

Screw set is $2.00

Part # CB136

Dont know if the part is the same for your panel but may be worth looking into. Maybe you can modify the pick up retainer to fit your application
