Hello all, swapped my rad for a 4 core aluminum rad. Still running original 216 with a 180 thermostat. Mechanical temp gauge wont come up over 160. Motor has a slight hesitation under quick acceleration that I cant get rid of. Would this low temp have anything to do with that?

Thanks!

a good 180 thermostat will not open until the water in the engine is 180, or slightly over, either you have a bad stat or your gauge is wrong, better do some more specific checks, like different points of the system with a laser digital thermometer and the stat in a pan of water on the stove to see what temp it opens at .... for the hesitation, that'll most likely be in the carb

Carb is brand new, just bolted it on. Could need the air screw adjusted. Does the carb have any other adjustments?
